Overview: Mehrauli, a historic village, is built around the Sufi shrine of Bakhtiyar Kaki near the famous Qutab Minar. Archaeological Park, spread over 200 acres, has a number of historically significant monuments spread all over it. All these monuments – which belong to different periods – all have a story to tell.
Mehrauli, being one of the oldest parts of Delhi, has monuments from the Khilji period, Tughlaq period, Lodhi period, Mughal Period and also from the British era. One can see the tank where it is believed Prophet Muhammad left a mark, and also the martyrdom site of Sikh hero Banda Bahadur. There is still an empty grave which was meant for the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar.
