River Kameng in Bhalukpong, Arunachal Pradesh

Day 1: Guwahati – Bhalukpong:

Arrive in Guwahati and immediately afterwards start for a six-hour drive to Bhalukpong, a small town situated along the southern reaches of the Himalayas in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Check into a hotel on arrival in Bhalukpong.

Location of Bhalukpong is amazing. It is situated on the border of dense forest of Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary and banks of River Kameng. Even Kaziranga National Park has a gate close to Bhalukpong. Enjoy some of the scenes the town has on offer.

Day 2: Bhalukpong – Dirang:

Check out in the morning after breakfast and start for Dirang, located at an altitude of a little less than 5000ft. This drive of more than seven hours goes through scenic areas. Stop on the way to visit Tipi Orchid Center, a premier institute for orchid research and development. Also visit Sessa Orchid sanctuary, which is spread in an area of 100 square kilometer. The Center has a collection of more than 500 varieties of orchids.

Day 3: Dirang – Tawang:

Get up early and after an early breakfast check out from the hotel. If ready for a hectic day, go and visit Yak Research Center and enjoy the sight of water gushing from hot springs, located on the high mountains, in Dirang River. Subsequently resume the drive to the main destination – Tawang.

Way from Dirang to Tawang, a drive of around seven hours, passes through breathtaking Dirang Valley. You can see apple and kiwi orchards, sheep breeding farms and charming valleys. You will cross the Sella Pass for entering into Tawang. Enjoy the the views of the snowcapped Sella Pass , situated at 14,000 feet. You can pay a short visit to Jaswant Garh War Memorial, a memorial dedicated to a brave Indian soldier. This is situated 16km from Sella Pass .

Check into a hotel on arrival in Tawang. Have a nice dinner. Overnight in Tawang.

Day 4: Tawang:

Start a tour of Tawang and nearby areas after a hearty breakfast. Go on to visit Tawang Monastery, also called Galden Namgyel Lhatse Monastery. With a control over 17 Gompas of the region, this is one of the largest monasteries of Mahayana sect. The Monastery is 400 years old.

Tawang War Memorial

Visit Tawang War Memorial, popularly called Namgyal Chorten, a 40ft high memorial made in stupa style, which is dedicated to those Indian soldiers who lost their lives during Indo-China war of 1962.

Later in the afternoon, make a visit to Pangang Teng Tso Lake, commonly referred to as P.T. Tso Lake. This is one of the most famous lakes of Arunachal Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 18 kilometer from Tawang Town. It is said that the lake was created by a flash flood following the 1950 earthquake in the region.

If you have time left in the evening go for shopping. Have a nice dinner. Overnight in Tawang.

Day 5: Tawang – Bomdila:

After breakfast check out from the hotel and start for Bomdila. It is more than seven hours journey from Tawang. Check in a hotel on arrival in Bomdila. Rest of the day at leisure. You can take a walk to the market or just decide to take rest in your room. Have dinner. Overnight in Bomdila.

Day 6: Bomdila – Guwahati:

Take a breakfast and leave for Guwahati. It is around eight hour’s journey from Bomdila. Check in a hotel in Guwahati. If you are willing you should go to Kamrup Kamakhya Temple, an India famous temple of goddess in Guwahati. Have dinner at one of the restaurants. Overnight in Guwahati.

Day 7: Guwahati – Onward destination:
