Overview: Shimla served as the Capital city of India under the British during Summers. As a result the city has a lot of heritage leftovers from the British era. Shimla Heritage Walk is the perfect way to let the guests explore the heritages of Shimla. The Walk will take you to explore the Christ Church, the Gaiety Theatre, the Bandstand, old banks, government offices, General Post Office, Betink’s Castle, Imperial Bank, Railway Board Building, Gorton Castle and some other monuments.
The Walk will end at the Viceregal Lodge, the residence of the Viceroys during the British Period. In the present days Indian Institute of Advanced Studies is located in this palatial building.
The guests will have a luncheon rest at a nice authentic restaurant.

Who Should Come: All guests coming for Shimla Heritage Walk must be aware they need to go up and down quite a bit. They should be mentally prepared for this. Walking in the hills need some stamina as well, even though there will be periods of rests for the guests. The walk involves connecting to history and old charms of Shimla. Only those with interest in exploring cultural history and heritages would like the Walk. You should also avoid bringing small kids.
What to Wear and Carry: Shimla remains cool throughout the year. It is better to cover yourself. If it is winters it is advisable to go for heavy woolens. If it is summer time it is advisable to go for light woolen. It is better to avoid wearing shorts. Please wear comfortable walking shoes or sandals. It is also advisable to have a pair of sunglasses. If it is monsoon time or overcast, it is a must to carry raincoat or an umbrella.
Please carry your own drinking water. If it is summer time, carry more water.
Starting Point: The Walk begins from Christ Church located at one end of the Ridge, on the way to Jakhoo Hills.
How to Come to Starting Point: Christ Church is one of the most prominent landmarks in Shimla. One can reach there by walking from the Ridge or the Mall Road.
