Day 1: Kuala Lumpur
Arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Check into your hotel in Kuala Lumpur. After some relaxation, go on to explore the city’s iconic landmarks like the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower. Enjoy a night walk in KLCC Park.
Overnight in Kuala Lumpur
Day 2: Kuala Lumpur
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, go on the explore Kuala Lumpur. Visit the Batu Caves, a series of Hindu temples in limestone caves. Later, go on to explore Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, one of the world’s largest covered bird parks.
Afterwards, go on to stroll around Lake Gardens and visit the Butterfly Park, a a large public butterfly zoo in Kuala Lumpur, situated adjacent to Lake Gardens.
Try local cuisine at Jalan Alor for dinner. Located in the heart of the city is Bukit Bintang Area, it is one of the busiest food streets of the world. There are hundreds of shops and restaurants on both sides serving authentic Malaysian food.
Return to the hotel after a hectic day. Overnight in Kuala Lumpur
Day 3 & 4: Taiping
Check out after breakfast and head to Taiping, a town often referred to as the ‘Rain City’ of Peninsular Malaysia. Locals often hail the town as the most peaceful in the country. Taiping is known for its scenic lake garden and its colonial architecture.
Taiping Lake Gardens is the first public garden established during the British rule in Malaysia.
Visit the Taiping Zoo and Night Safari. Enjoy a visit to the Perak Museum. Explore Bukit Larut (Maxwell Hill) for a cool retreat and panoramic views.
Day 5 & 6: Kuantan & Cherating
After breakfast at the hotel in Taiping, check out and head to Kuantan, capital city of the state of Pahang on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The distance between the two town is more than 500 km and drive can take up to 7 hours.
Check into a hotel on arrival in Kuantan. It is known for nearby beaches such as Pantai Balok, Pantai Batu Hitam and Cherating.
Once you are in Cherating, go on to explore Cherating Turtle Sanctuary and witness the conservation efforts.
Spend your time indulging in water sports or simply relax by the sea.
Kuantan is also known for its waterfalls. The most well-known is the Sungai Pandan Waterfall. Two others are the Sungai Berkelah Waterfall and the Jerangkang Waterfall. You can opt to visit these. Some good parks and zoo are also there.
Day 7 & 8: Kota Bharu and the Perhentian Islands
Check out after breakfast and head to Kota Bharu, the state capital and royal seat of Kelantan. Situated in the northeastern part of Peninsular Malaysia, Kota Bharu lies near the mouth of the Kelantan River.
Kota Bharu is known for being rich in Malaysian culture. It has some beautiful and vibrant markets and mosques. There are also various interesting museums, the old royal palace and former royal buildings in the center of the town. Authentic Malaysian food, architecture, history and and culture of Malaysia can be experienced here.
Drive to Kuala Besut and catch a boat to the Perhentian Islands for snorkeling and relaxation. Perhentian Islands is one of the most popular beach destination in Malaysia. You can choose to stay one night on the Island.
Day 9 & 10: Belum Rainforest
After breakfast, start for Belum Rainforest, a drive of around 180km from Kota Bharu. It takes around 3.5 hours to reach Belum Rainforest from Kota Bharu. Belum Rainforest is considered as one of the world’s oldest rainforests.
Take a boat tour to discover the diverse flora and fauna, including the possibility of spotting rare species. Engage in eco-friendly activities, such as jungle trekking or bird watching.
Day 11: Belum Rainforest – Kuala Lumpur – Onward Destination
After breakfast, check out and drive around 370km to reach Kuala Lumpur. It usually takes 5 hours for this journey.
